What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative effort between a coach and client aimed at improving an area of one’s life. Through a process of conversations and reflection, coaching helps you identify and access individual skills and strengths in order to meet a specific goal more effectively. It’s forward looking, structured, action oriented, and focused on a measurable outcome.

Where do we start?

First, let’s start with a 30-minute phone or Zoom call. This is not a commitment to coaching, it’s just a chance for us to meet. I can answer your questions, you can share a few things about yourself, and ultimately decide if I am the right coach for you.

Next, if you decide you want to move forward, we can map out how much time is needed for you to experience the benefits of the coaching. I’ll make a personalized recommendation based on our initial conversation and your specific needs. Moving forward, we can work on a schedule that suits you, whether it’s meeting once a week or every two weeks, or even once a month.

Each coaching session will last one hour, and you can expect to walk away with some homework and next steps. It’s that simple.

What should I expect?

You can expect a lot of questions.

Seriously, it's all about the questions. My commitment is to work with you, within your unique context, with a focus on what you actually can do, and not just what you think you should do. With the right kind of questions, you'll soon realize you've some great ideas of your own.

Also, I am not a magician. The success of our work together comes down to you. I will push you to work hard and at times it could feel uncomfortable. But in the end, any and all success belongs to you, and I'll be the first person to tell you that.

How does it work?

My aim is to help you meet your current and future challenges more effectively.

This happens by developing a better understanding of yourself, of the roles of others in your life, and the broader system or context in which you are involved.  Your focus can be professional development, such as facing challenges at work, contemplating a career move, or improving your performance. On a personal level, it can mean finding your balance, or even your motivation. Whether personal or professional, we'll work to figure out what's getting in the way.

Different areas of life eventually overlap and can become muddled. Professional challenges can impact life at home, and personal issues can surface at work. Recognizing where your challenges reside is key to facing them.

How many coaching sessions will I need?

Coaching doesn't need to be an ongoing relationship, the duration will depend on what you want to accomplish and how you measure the success of the outcomes.

After our introductory call or Zoom, I will make a recommendation for a set number of sessions and confirm your agreement before moving forward. You are free to cancel at any time, whether you feel you have achieved your desired outcome, or if you don't feel coaching is right for you.

What about different time zones?

I love working with people from all around the world. I am based in New Zealand which is 12 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +12), which means even if you're in another hemisphere but are okay with calls in the afternoon or early evening, we can definitely make it work. I can be flexible and will do my best to work with you.

Still have questions? Reach out and let's find a time to talk, I would love to hear from you.
